Basketball Recap: Mount Zion Christian Academy's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

After flying high against Eastern Alamance on Friday, Mount Zion Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Mount Zion Christian Academy Mighty Warriors fell 72-64 to the Combine Academy National Goats on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Mighty Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Goats are ranked second).

Mount Zion Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Walker, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. What's more, Walker also racked up eight blocks, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Bryce Long was another key player, going 6 for 14 en route to 18 points and three steals.

The defeat snapped Mount Zion Christian Academy's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-9 record. As for Combine Academy National, they pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Zion Christian Academy will challenge Winston Salem Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Combine Academy National, they will take on Bull City Prep National at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
