Cardinal Newman had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Catawba Ridge Copperheads by a score of 2-0 on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Cardinals as they're now sitting on six straight dating back to last season.

Leila Hargrove paced Cardinal Newman's offense, picking up ten kills. Hargrove got some help from Lauren Rivers and her 19 assists.

Cardinal Newman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against South Aiken on the 15th. As for Catawba Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Woodmont on the 15th.
