Soccer Game Preview: Granger vs. Cyprus

The Granger Lancers will face off against the Cyprus Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Granger knows how to get goals on the board -- the squad has finished with four goals or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Cyprus likes a good challenge.

Cyprus better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Granger's game last Wednesday is any indication, that's when Granger really gets things going. The Lancers never let Kearns get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The result was nothing new for Granger, who have now won six games by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Kearns with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Luis Salazar (2), Jorge Carranza, Jean Toro, and Adrian Hernandez.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Cyprus and Taylorsville, and Cyprus kept the tradition alive. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Pirates who were credited with the victory last Thursday. Cyprus got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Taylorsville's three.

Granger is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those eight contests. As for Cyprus, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Granger skirted past Cyprus 1-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
