Basketball Recap: Gaithersburg Takes a Loss

Gaithersburg lost against Seneca Valley back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Gaithersburg Trojans were outmatched by the Seneca Valley Screamin' Eagles and fell 79-37. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Screamin' Eagles are ranked 47th).

It was another big night for Jayden Addison, who went 16 of 23 on her way to 36 points along with six assists and five boards for Seneca Valley. With that strong performance, Addison is now averaging an impressive 16.5 points per game. Brielle Watson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Gaithersburg dropped their record down to 6-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Seneca Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

Gaithersburg has already played their next matchup (against Whitman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Seneca Valley and Einstein will face off at 7:15 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
