Basketball Recap: Eau Claire Memorial Beats Rice Lake for Their Fifth Straight Win

Eau Claire Memorial had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They took down the Rice Lake Warriors 59-43. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 67-51 back in January.

Rice Lake lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Addison Schmidt, who posted ten points and eight rebounds. She has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Schommer, who had five points.

Eau Claire Memorial pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points over those games. As for Rice Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-4.

Eau Claire Memorial and Rice Lake should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. Eau Claire Memorial (ranked 23rd) will meet Eau Claire North (ranked 134th) at 6:00 p.m. on February 21st. Meanwhile, Rice Lake will challenge Mosinee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday up 59 places (29 vs. 88).
