Softball Game Preview: Legacy Tigers vs. South Gate Rams

Legacy is 9-1 against South Gate since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Rams at 3:00 p.m. Legacy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

Legacy's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on South Gate with a sharp 11-0 win. Considering the Tigers have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Savannah Medina was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Janet Castaneda was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Isabella Medina was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Legacy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

South Gate's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-7. As for Legacy, their record now sits at 11-8.
