Softball Game Preview: Maple Hill Wildcats vs. Saratoga Central Catholic Saints

The Maple Hill Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Saratoga Central Catholic Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maple Hill is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

Maple Hill came out on top against Albany on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Wildcats walked away with a 7-2 win over the Falcons.

Madison Camadine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Olivia Mueller, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Amalya LaPlante, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Saratoga Central Catholic came up short against Hoosick Falls on Wednesday, falling 9-3. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Saratoga Central Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Schaefer, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Saratoga Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Maple Hill, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 6-3.

Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Maple Hill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Saratoga Central Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .348. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Maple Hill couldn't quite get it done against Saratoga Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
