Football Recap: Firebaugh Comes Up Short on the Road Against Chowchilla + How To Watch

Firebaugh had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Chowchilla Tribe by a score of 17-14. The Eagles lost against the Tribe in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 33-7 score last time.

Leonardo Perez threw for 80 yards and one touchdown. Dominic Barajas was his top target, picking up 45 receiving yards and one TD. On the ground, Alex Rosa rushed for 74 yards and one score.

Chowchilla can attribute much of their success to Nathan Fuentes, who rushed for 94 yards on only 12 carries. An impressive showing, but Fuentes really ramped things up playing D: he made seven total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass in addition to snagging two interceptions.

Coming up, Firebaugh will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Fowler at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Chowchilla, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Dos Palos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
