Softball Game Preview: Margaretta Polar Bears vs. Norwalk Truckers

The Margaretta Polar Bears will square off against the Norwalk Truckers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Things were looking good for Margaretta after they put the first points on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Monroeville, falling 15-3.

Cassidy Lane was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Lane was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Lane wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lilah Deeks, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

Meanwhile, Norwalk fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Elyria Catholic on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2. The Truckers' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row dating back to last season.

Margaretta's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Norwalk, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Margaretta skirted past Norwalk 4-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Margaretta repeat their success, or does Norwalk has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
