Oak Hall has gone a perfect 3-0 against Countryside Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Oak Hall Eagles will head out to face off against the Countryside Christian Minutemen at 4:00 p.m. Oak Hall is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Oak Hall after they put the first points on the board last Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Saint Francis Catholic by a score of 7-6. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Graham Rosenstone made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aaron Akins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Countryside Christian had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 21-1 margin over the Crusaders. The Minutemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Clay Dees and Eli Gruenwald made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Dees pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Gruenwald pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Dees has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single hit in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Dees scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Gruenwald scored four runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. With that strong performance, Gruenwald is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Brayden Dalton and Erik Orozco did most of the damage at the plate: Dalton scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Orozco scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Orozco has posted since back in April of 2024. Emory Alford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Countryside Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matchups.
Countryside Christian's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Oak Hall, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Oak Hall has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Countryside Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Oak Hall beat Countryside Christian 11-7 when the teams last played back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oak Hall since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
