Baseball Recap: Overton Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Overton). They were the clear victor by a 16-2 margin over the Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet Royals on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Bobcats sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Peter Weber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, Jackson Bennett was a standout: he scored two runs while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Miller Bowen, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Bennett wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Overton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet only managed five hits.

Overton pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Overton will take on East Nashville Magnet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Overton's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so East Nashville Magnet's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet, they will challenge Hunters Lane at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
