Basketball Recap: Crestwood Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Saniya Williams and London Vaughn

Crestwood suffered their closest loss since December 7, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Lakewood Gators by a score of 54-51. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Crestwood's loss came despite strong showings from London Vaughn and Saniya Williams. Vaughn went 9 of 18 en route to 22 points along with five assists and five steals, while Williams went 8 for 19 on her way to 20 points and five boards. What's more, Williams also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in February of 2024.

Lakewood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Camorri Glenn out in front who went 5 of 12 on her way to 13 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zakiya Hodge, who posted ten points and six boards.

Crestwood has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Lakewood, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.

When Crestwood and Lakewood next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Crestwood will take on South Florence and their four-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Similarly, Lakewood will try to stop Lower Richland's 11-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
