Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Matadors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 66-49 back in January.
Sandia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zaire Ndyabagye led the charge by dropping a double-double with 21 points and ten boards. Ndyabagye is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gad Harris, who shot 63% from the field en route to 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Albuquerque's defeat dropped their record down to 22-7. As for Sandia, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-3.
Albuquerque does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sandia, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hobbs at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hobbs knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Sandia likes a good challenge.
