Baseball Game Preview: Charleroi Cougars vs. McGuffey Highlanders

For the second straight game, Charleroi will face off against McGuffey. The Cougars will welcome the Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Charleroi's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so McGuffey's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Monday just wasn't the day for Charleroi's offense. They fell 5-0 to McGuffey on Monday. The Cougars' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

For McGuffey's part, the team relied heavily on Preston Hornak, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Hornak also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Lincoln Johnson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

The victory (which was McGuffey's third in a row) raised their record to 5-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Charleroi, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.
