Sparta has been on a difficult stretch since their win on the 2nd. They fell just short of the Belding Black Knights by a score of 2-1 on Monday. Sparta were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Belding apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Sparta's loss dropped their record down to 1-9-1. As for Belding, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3-1 and their overall record up to 2-4-5.

Sparta and Belding could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 382nd) will meet Coopersville (ranked 97th) at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Belding will take on NorthPointe Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (364 vs. 68).
