Baseball Recap: Lecanto Takes a Loss

Lecanto's last matchup with Mitchell could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Monday. The Lecanto Panthers lost 12-2 to the Mitchell Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 5-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

Lecanto saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tommy Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Even though they lost, Lecanto hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Lecanto's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Mitchell, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Lecanto wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-7 defeat against Tarpon Springs on the 18th. As for Mitchell, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-4 victory against Weeki Wachee on the 18th.
