Basketball Recap: Wheatmore Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Wheatmore, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 59-46 win over the East Davidson Golden Eagles on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Golden Eagles back in December of 2024, they had to take a 51-45 loss.

Wheatmore had a senior duo take command as Parker Kines went 5 for 12 on his way to 19 points and three steals and Weston Driggers posted 11 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Finley Bryant, who earned 11 points.

East Davidson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tegin Hedrick, who put up 15 points. Landin Newton was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Wheatmore's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for East Davidson, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Wheatmore wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 42-41 win against Madison on the 28th. As for East Davidson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-42 victory against West Davidson on the 28th.
