Preview: Chambers Cougars vs. Mallard Creek Mavericks
After three games on the road, Chambers is heading back home. They will take on the Mallard Creek Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chambers has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,174 points over their last 16 matchups.
Chambers put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat West Charlotte 78-35 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-23.
Jordan Patton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maurio Hanson II, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Mallard Creek fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 59-47 victory over Hough on Thursday.
Mallard Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Langston Boyd, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Rassell Young, who scored 17 points.
Chambers' win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Mallard Creek, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Chambers barely slipped by Mallard Creek in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 67-66. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Mallard Creek's Kaden Ross, who scored 23 points along with six steals. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Chambers to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
