Basketball Recap: Liam Daniels' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Liberty over James Monroe

After flying high against Sherman last Monday, Liberty came back down to earth. The Liberty Raiders lost 61-37 to the James Monroe Mavericks on Tuesday. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Mavericks recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Liberty's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liam Daniels, who posted eight points and four steals. Daniels has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jadon Acord, who put up eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead James Monroe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kadyn Hines, who went 8 for 13 to rack up 20 points along with six boards and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Hines now owns an excellent 46.1% shooting accuracy. Jayden Miller was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for James Monroe, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Liberty has already played their next contest, a 56-43 win against Summers County on the 7th. As for James Monroe, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-53 victory against Independence on the 5th.
