Football Recap: Kearns Cougars vs. Granger Lancers
Kearns extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-5. They were outmatched by the Granger Lancers and fell 56-7. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-7.
Special teams was responsible for all of the team's points. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Karim Bustos, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
As for Granger, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2. That 49 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.
Granger got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Owen Griffin out in front who threw for 403 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Griffin has become a key player for the Lancers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 300 passing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. La'Auli Figiel was Griffin's top target, picking up 201 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
