Dyer County proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Benet Academy Redwings, sneaking past 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Choctaws, who have now won nine games in a row.

Molly Woody looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dyer County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylee Key, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another was Emma Wray, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Dyer County pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Benet Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Dyer County is taking a road trip to square off against Tipton-Rosemark Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Benet Academy, they will look to defend their home field on April 7 against Plainfield North at 4:30 p.m.
