Baseball Recap: Cowan Comes Up Short

Cowan had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-3 to make it four. They lost 17-1 to the Knightstown Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blackhawks of the 21-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Cowan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaydon Auker, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Auker is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Brysen Huggins also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

As for Knightstown, their win bumped their record up to 8-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.

On Knightstown's side, Jackson Daves was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

Looking ahead, Cowan will challenge Northeastern at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Knightstown, they will be playing at home against Purdue Polytechnic at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Techies have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
