Softball Recap: Medina Valley's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Medina Valley waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Del Rio Rams. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rams, too.

Makenzie Vallejo made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other pitching news, Lyssy Salazar looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Avery Nash, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Madison Camacho, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Medina Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Del Rio only managed four hits.

Medina Valley pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Del Rio, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17.

Medina Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-3 defeat against Southwest on the 21st. As for Del Rio, they have also already played their next match, an 18-3 loss against Eagle Pass on the 20th.
