Baseball Recap: Rancho Christian Has No Trouble Against Vista Del Lago

Rancho Christian's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Vista del Lago Ravens 13-3. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Ravens: they've now won eight in a row.

Sean Downs made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rancho Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Downs was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Cody Horner was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Robert Vargas also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Rancho Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got Rancho Christian back to even at 5-5. As for Vista del Lago, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.

Rancho Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Ravens: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
