Softball Recap: Joshua Triumphs

Joshua took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Grandview, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Joshua Owls had just enough and edged out the Grandview Zebras 8-7 on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Owls: when they faced off against the Zebras back in February, they had to take a 12-0 defeat.

The team relied heavily on Baylee Jones, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Shyanne Strawn, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Jones wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Joshua kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Joshua is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. Grandview's loss ended a 19-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-3.

Joshua and Grandview should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Joshua will take on Everman at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 657 places (377 vs. 1034). Similarly, Grandview (ranked 22nd) will meet Scurry-Rosser (ranked 648th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
