Basketball Recap: Orange Falls to Riverside-Durham in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Orange had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost to the Riverside-Durham Pirates on the road by a 50-36 margin. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Riverside-Durham got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Darryn Johnson out in front who shot 60% from the field to rack up 13 points. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 53% in the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Talib Harrell, who posted seven points and three steals.

Riverside-Durham has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Orange will square off against Willow Spring at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverside-Durham, they have already played their next game, a 67-54 win against Franklinton on the 22nd.
