MaxPreps Football Tour of Champions celebrates Loveland High School

The 14th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard passed through Colorado on Tuesday, January 29 to recognize Loveland (Colo.) High School and its football team for winning a state championship and earning a high national ranking.

Having upended Skyline 62-14 in the CHSAA Class 4A state championship contest, the 14-0 Indians claimed their seventh state football title and earned the No. 82 ranking in MaxPreps' National Rankings! MaxPreps and the Colorado Army National Guard took on the frigid elements to celebrate Indian football with a packed house crowd at halftime of the boys varsity basketball game against Broomfield, a 75-63 Indian win.

As the ceremony began, the Indians followed head football coach Wayne McGinn out to center court where Sergeant First Class Carl Johnson of the Colorado Army National Guard presented them with the prestigious Army National Guard national ranking trophy and a nationally ranked rafter banner that will hang in the gymnasium for years to come.

Loveland football was appreciative of the national recognition and the fans, parents and faculty enthusiastically applauded the Indians, with local television on-site to capture the moment. SFC Johnson acknowledged the Indians for their hard work and endurance to finish the season as champions, both shared character traits of the Army National Guard and a state championship football team.



The high number of championship banners hanging in the gymnasium tells the story of an athletic program that has already had a ton of success. But with a team led by twenty seniors, McGinn is well aware that the latest edition of Indian football was special!
