Recap: Southland Rebels vs. LeRoy-Ostrander Cardinals
The Southland Rebels's four-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They blew past LeRoy-Ostrander 73-49. That looming 73-49 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Southland yet this season.
LeRoy-Ostrander lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Miranda Nagel, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Nagel is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Benita Nolt was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, LeRoy-Ostrander smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of nine games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Southland's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9. As for LeRoy-Ostrander, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southland will square off against Lyle/Pacelli at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lyle/Pacelli is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for LeRoy-Ostrander, they will head out on the road to face off against Fillmore Central at 7:16 p.m. on Tuesday.
