Softball Recap: Mayville Takes a Loss

Mayville's last matchup with Lomira could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Tuesday. The Cardinals came up short against the Lions, falling 9-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in April.

Mayville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Pearl Witek, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Mayville's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5. As for Lomira, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mayville will square off against rival St. Mary's Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lomira is set to challenge their familiar foe Omro at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
