Baseball Recap: Marana Tigers vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions
Marana had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 6-19-1 to make it five. They came up short against the Mountain View Mountain Lions, falling 9-3. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Mountain Lions from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.
Kai Mindoro was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
As for Mountain View, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 10-16-1 record. They not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 15-5).
On Mountain View's side, Cy Klinger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Taylor Montgomery and Spencer Thiel did most of the damage at the plate: Montgomery went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Thiel went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Thiel is becoming a predictor of Mountain View's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-16-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Aundre Hill, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Marana didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-0 defeat against Cesar Chavez on the 27th. Mountain View does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
