Baseball Game Preview: East Rowan Mustangs vs. South Iredell Vikings

East Rowan is 7-1 against South Iredell since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. East Rowan will be playing in front of their home fans against South Iredell at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as East Rowan comes in on eight and South Iredell on four.

East Rowan's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Robinson 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since May 31, 2024.

Not much got past Mason Phelps, who gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Robinson off the board. Those nine strikeouts gave Phelps a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Harrison Ailshie, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and one double.

Meanwhile, South Iredell played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and they got just the result they were looking for. They put the hurt on West Cabarrus with a sharp 12-1 win. Considering the Vikings have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

East Rowan pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for South Iredell, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

East Rowan took their win against South Iredell in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-2. Does East Rowan have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Iredell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
