Mountain City Christian Academy put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 65-26 victory over the Soldotna Stars. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Stars are ranked 36th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mountain City Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Morgan Maldonado out in front who went 6 for 9 en route to 15 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Schaeffer, who went 6 of 8 on her way to 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Mountain City Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Soldotna only racked up five assists.

Despite the defeat, Soldotna saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cassidy Kruse posted six points and eight boards.

Mountain City Christian Academy pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Soldotna, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

Mountain City Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-22 win against Palmer on the 21st. Soldotna has also already played their next game, a 57-33 victory against West Valley on the 23rd.
