Basketball Recap: Grainger Comes Up Short

Grainger had lost two consecutive heartbreakers to Cocke County and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. The Grainger Grizzlies took a 62-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cocke County Fighting Cocks. The Grizzlies haven't had much luck with the Fighting Cocks recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Ethan Fine was the offensive standout of the matchup as he dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in December of 2024. Jerome Cofield was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Grainger's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Cocke County, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-15.

Grainger will welcome Volunteer at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Cocke County has already played their next game (against South Greene), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
