Baseball Preview: Solon Comets vs. Twinsburg Tigers
The Solon Comets will take on the Twinsburg Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Solon came out on top against Benedictine on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Comets walked away with a 6-3 win over the Bengals. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Comets.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Twinsburg). They put the hurt on Kenston with a sharp 15-2 victory on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Twinsburg got a great performance from Nicholas Labella as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.
On the hitting side, JD Okuma was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Lemieux, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Twinsburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kenston only managed six hits.
Twinsburg pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Solon, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.
