Recap: Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels vs. Crosby-Ironton Rangers
After a string of three wins, the Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Crosby-Ironton 75-70. While losing is never fun, Moose Lake/Willow River can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Crosby-Ironton is ranked 42nd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crosby-Ironton to victory, but perhaps none more so than James Stokman, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. Stokman hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jordan Mount, who scored 14 points along with five assists and three steals.
Moose Lake/Willow River's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-6. As for Crosby-Ironton, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1.
Moose Lake/Willow River will head out on the road to face off against Two Harbors at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Moose Lake/Willow River has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,129 points over their last 15 games. As for Crosby-Ironton, they will be playing at home against Detroit Lakes at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Crosby-Ironton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
