Football Preview: Clayton Clippers vs. Gateway Regional Gators
Clayton has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will host the Gateway Regional Gators.
Clayton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 47 points on September 6th, they were much more limited against Haddon Township two weeks ago. They lost 29-7 to the Hawks. The Clippers haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, Gateway Regional didn't have too much trouble with Sterling on the road on Friday as they won 22-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gators.
Gateway Regional wouldn't let Sterling keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Gateway Regional can thank John Morris and Lamar Smith for forcing both of them.
Clayton now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Gateway Regional, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.
Clayton couldn't quite finish off Gateway Regional in their previous matchup back in October of 2021 and fell 9-6. Thankfully for Clayton, Peyton Folger (who rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
