Softball Recap: Agawam Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Agawam and East Longmeadow, and East Longmeadow kept the tradition alive. The Brownies lost 13-7 to the Spartans on Thursday. The Brownies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 8-5.

Alexina Lentes was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Pajer, who went 3-for-5 with two runs.

Agawam's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for East Longmeadow, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Agawam will face off against Brattleboro at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for East Longmeadow, they will take on Westfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
