Softball Recap: University Hawks vs. Brighton Bruins

University owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They put the hurt on the Brighton Bruins with a sharp 8-0 victory. Considering the Hawks have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddie Campbell was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Lexi Elza was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Sophia Lehosit also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

University lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
