Recap: Windsor Academy Knights vs. Piedmont Academy Cougars
Even though the Piedmont Academy Cougars scored an imposing 57 points on Thursday, the Windsor Academy Knights still came out on top. Windsor Academy took down Piedmont Academy 71-57. The win made it back-to-back wins for Windsor Academy.
Reed Barr was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cameron Houston, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Despite the loss, Piedmont Academy saw an underclassman step up: Corbett Crews dropped a double-double on 23 points and 18 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Crews scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Barrett Downing, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Piedmont Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The win got Windsor Academy back to even at 6-6. As for Piedmont Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-12.
Windsor Academy will look to defend their home court on Friday against Gatewood at 6:30 p.m. Gatewood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 games -- so hopefully Windsor Academy likes a good challenge. As for Piedmont Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Tattnall Square Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Tattnall Square Academy's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Piedmont Academy has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
