Volleyball Recap: Morenci Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Morenci was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of San Miguel on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats lost 3-0 to the Benson Bobcats on Wednesday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Morenci was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Benson's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-18, 26-24.

Kierah Fernandez paced Morenci's offense, picking up five kills. Fernandez got some help from Leayla Mendez-Garcia and her nine assists.

Morenci's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Benson, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Morenci will be playing at home against Duncan at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildkats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more sets each match than the last. As for Benson, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Tombstone on the 24th.
