Football Recap: Leakey Piles Up the Points Against Eden

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Menard, Leakey was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Eden Bulldogs, posting a 68-33 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Leakey had a senior duo take command as Owen Hankins rushed for 237 yards and two TDs while picking up 11.9 yards per carry and Aden Rhiver gained 141 total yards and six touchdowns. Rhiver also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up three sacks, forcing one fumble, and making six total tackles (5.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. Aiden Hernandez got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Leakey was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 309 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

One reason for the win was Leakey's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Eden's QB won't forget Rhiver anytime soon given he sacked him three times. Rhiver got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Leakey's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points over those games. As for Eden, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Coincidentally, Leakey and Eden will both be playing Medina the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
