Volleyball Recap: Mitchell Kernels vs. Huron Tigers
After flying high against Tea last Friday, Mitchell came back down to earth. The Mitchell Kernels fell just short of the Huron Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Kernels haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Mitchell took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 13-25, 23-25, 25-19, 15-5.
Addie Siemsen paced Mitchell's offense, picking up 14 kills. Siemsen got some help from
Kenna Soulek and her 25 assists. Soulek was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Huron, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-12.
Mitchell and Huron could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps South Dakota Rankings. Mitchell (ranked 70th) will meet Brandon Valley (ranked 17th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Huron will square off against O'Gorman at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 38 places (40 vs. 2).
