Baseball Recap: East Central Wins Going Away Against Union County

East Central was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Union County on Saturday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 12-2 victory. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Trojans this season.

East Central got a great performance from Cole Grubbs as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Matthew Roy was a standout: he got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for East Central: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Collin Harrill was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

The win got East Central back to even at 5-5. As for Union County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

East Central will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair will be back at it again later today.
