Softball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Riverside

Riverside won against Austin on Tuesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Rangers beat the Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy Warriors by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. Considering the Rangers have won 13 contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaylee Castro made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Castro was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025.

In other batting news, Riverside let Marli Estrada and Hailie Valdivia run wild. Estrada went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Valdivia went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. August Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Riverside hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 7-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win made it two in a row for Riverside and bumps their season record up to 14-11. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.
