Soccer Game Preview: Holtville vs. Central

Holtville hasn't had much luck against Central recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Holtville Vikings will host the Central Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Holtville's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Holtville's offense. They fell just short of Calexico by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 914th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 98th).

Meanwhile, Central kept a clean sheet against Southwest EC on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Eagles. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Spartans were the better team in the second half.

Joseph Rosas and Mishel Villanueva scored both of Central's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 43 goals.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 17-2-3. As for Holtville, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10-2.
