Carondelet is 2-8 against Foothill since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Foothill will be up against a hot Carondelet team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Cougars came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against Dougherty Valley.
Maia Scholtens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Carondelet's victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Joyal Colquitt, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. Arielle Henriquez was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Foothill gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Granada 5-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.
Foothill also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Myra Galzie gave up three earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. Galzie has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sophia Burdick, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaycie Burdick, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Carondelet's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Foothill, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5-1.
Carondelet might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Foothill in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
