Treon Harris and Deltron Hopkins provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Doral Academy. The longest such play in 4A District 8 this season, the connection resulted in 70 yards.
Edison moved up to 219 from 264 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Red Raiders were able to make move up by besting Monsignor Pace 20-14.
Washington's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Harris threw for 211 and three touchdowns and Hopkins had 100 yards receiving. On the ground Krondis Larry chipped in 55 yards. Nicholas Norris helped Washington's passing attack out by catching two balls for 68 yards.
Washington's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tornadoes feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Harris has thrown for 1346 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while Norris has 16 catches for 378 yards. D'von Ballard leads the league in rushing with 629 yards.
Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when the Tornadoes and Gulliver Prep meet this week. Washington features well-regarded senior Matthew Thomas while the Raiders has Stacy Thomas, a sought after senior.
A big matchup in 4A District 8 this week will be when Tim Harris' team takes on Gulliver Prep. The Tornadoes are in first place, while Earl Sims' team is in fourth place.
Washington extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Firebirds, 71-14. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Tornadoes.
