Basketball Recap: West Charlotte Comes Up Short

West Charlotte played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Chambers Cougars 93-61. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost seven in a row.

When it comes to explaining why West Charlotte lost, don't look at DJ Williams. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 11 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds. Williams has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Jalen Miller also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Chambers was led to victory by Tarris Bouie III and Markus Kerr. Bouie III dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten boards, while Kerr went 10 for 14 en route to 25 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Bouie III has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Desmond Martin, who posted nine points.

West Charlotte's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Chambers, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.

West Charlotte has already played their next game, an 83-40 defeat against North Mecklenburg on the 17th. As for Chambers, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 89-61 win against Mallard Creek on the 17th.
