Softball Recap: La Crescent Starts Season with Win at Home

La Crescent gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Houston Hurricanes. That's more bragging rights for the Lancers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Allie Knutson and Lexi Kiesau did most of the damage at the plate: Knutson went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI, while Kiesau scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two RBI gave Knutson a new career-high. Ella Gates was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Having lost for the first time this season, Houston fell to 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Crescent will venture away from home to challenge Rushford-Peterson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Houston, they will face off against Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
