Basketball Game Preview: Burbank Titans vs. Nevada Union Miners

The Burbank Titans will square off against the Nevada Union Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burbank will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Burbank strolled past West Campus with points to spare, taking the game 59-45. The Titans pushed the score to 48-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors cut but never quite recovered from.

Burbank had a senior duo take command as Michael Butcher went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc to rack up 22 points and six rebounds and Cedric Sydnor went 7-for-12 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight boards and five blocks. Butcher's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Korshawn Sanders-Thomas, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Burbank smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Nevada Union, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Yuba City 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Miners have posted since December 26, 2024.

Nevada Union's victory bumped their record up to 16-12. As for Burbank, their win bumped their record up to 20-8.

Everything went Burbank's way against Nevada Union when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Burbank made off with a 57-37 victory. Will Burbank repeat their success, or does Nevada Union have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
